PTA Parents,
Renee and I are looking so forward to serving the Antietam Community as Co-Presidents of the PTA in the coming year…. We know that many of you have likely already closed the books on this school year, but we wanted to let you know your PTA team is already looking ahead. Your team of officers for the coming year have already met and laid out a set of goals.
Simply put, we set our number one goal as “growing” our community so that more of us can support our students, our teachers, and our administration. We know that one of the MOST important ingredients in school success is parental involvement…. So, more folks involved should lead to even more success for Antietam. I mean, if it’s this good now…. Imagine if we just double the number of parents on our P-T-A rolls.
Over the summer, we’ll begin the process of contacting as many as of you as we can. Frankly, it will be difficult because we do not have numbers and e-mail addresses for everyone. But we’re going to give it a concerted try. You can help by sending us your contact information at AntietamPTA@comcast.net or call us directly at 703-490-4332. We think better communication will assist in our efforts to increase parent involvement. We also believe that most parents want to help, but haven’t been told when and where they can pitch in. This is especially true of working moms and dads. There ARE still ways for you to help. As part of our efforts to open wider the lines of communication, we’ve also found our place in the social networking world. Antietam PTA has a Facebook page. If you are a Facebook member, please search for it and sign up.
One final thing before you fire up the summer grill…. Our officers have noticed a problem in past years we don’t want to repeat. We know joining the PTA and getting involved can be intimidating. It may appear to some that “all those people know each other” or “they’re all friends, there is no room for me.” We want to avoid the appearance that we’re a private club… with others on the outside looking in. We want EVERYONE to help! Because while we do make friends quickly, we all have one objective. That is to make your child’s school experience, their education, the best it can be.
Have a great summer and please get in touch.
Matt and Renee Brock
Antietam PTA Co-Presidents
